Who is Konni Kim?

Designer and entrepreneur Konni Kim founded the label ‘Konni Kim’ in 2020.

Having spent her childhood in London, she carries a deep understanding of global culture and is often described as a free spirit.

Her Korean prep school background gives her an edge and her many ventures as an independent party planner have broadened her perspective, leading her to found the brand Giamiaa in 2019 with her best friends.

As a rising socialite and fashion talent in the Seoul scene, she has her eye on the international stage with her own independent upcycled label ‘Konni Kim’.

I rested my fingers on the keyboard for a split second as I paused to contemplate whether I should write in the third person, like all those other cool biography ‘about me’s you’re probably used to seeing on the back of books with a picture of the author (usually black and white), but – deciding it would go against the essence of this blog – I’ll just do it my way.

I’m an independent writer, party planner, and CEO of fashion brand Giamiaa ( here, check it out: giamiaa.com / @giamiaa_official ). I’m Korean (North or South?) and a Seoulite (yes, Gangnam style) wandering about the city enjoying the many views that entrepreneurship here has to offer.

I spent my childhood in London, and the rest of it here in Seoul (yes, ‘it’ as in my childhood, it never ends). That’s why I’m always wandering around, I can’t keep myself in one spot because I need to keep adventuring the world. There’s just so much synergy to be created and new value to be added.

I started this blog way back in 2012, when I was literally in the preppiest secondary school in Korea (school used to end at 11pm like wtf), to rebel against authority and prove that I have a passion for fashion. Well, point proven, HA.

I’m guessing you’ve got a basic picture of me in your mind now, but just in case you’re still confused, here’s a photo of me in a blue Giamiaa dress, because you can tell everything about a person by their looks, right?

And now, just for your pleasure, is the original excerpt for this page, written by teenage me years ago when I first started this blog. Enjoy. Cringe.

Hi there!

I’m Konni Kim.

I was born in South Korea, and spent my childhood in London, UK. I am 19 years old. I’m a fashion student.

(Me : )

I have always been interested in and fascinated by creation and expression.
My confidence derives from the fact that I am authentic, original, and unique. My inspiration to continue innovating is made up of everything and everyone around me. It’s usually the little things in my awesome daily life that get me up on my feet and creating. My passion is my expression through the Arts.

I am a self-actualized artist, writer, and blogger with great ambitions. I will create a legend by developing further forms of expression to encourage people to communicate more deeply through the Arts -specifically: visual expression- and strive to create artistic, genuine, personal, emotional bonds in such a materialistic world. Trust me, it will be legendary.

I often get asked-“Why do you blog? It’s not like it’s gonna get you into college or make you money!” Well, I’ve never really had a concrete answer to that question, and as a blogger, I don’t think you should have one definite answer. I blog not for a specific reason or purpose, but because, well, I like it. I don’t know. It makes me happy, and it makes other people happy, and that makes me even more happy. I always get to meet new people through my blog, and every single person I’ve met so far or talked to through this blog has left a meaningful impression on me. My readers make me the happiest 17-year-old girl in the whole wide world. Isn’t that enough for me to continue on with Konni Kim Designs?

This legend, my legend, is what I live for. The legend starts here, on this very page. Congratulations. You are a part of it. Let’s keep going together, hand in hand.

Please show your kind support(or criticism) for my blog by leaving a comment of feedback for me. I value every one of your voices very much. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart.

  1. Thanks for following me. Being supported by someone with such an exceptional view of creative expression makes it even more special. I look forward to your thoughts and expressions in the future.

  2. Hey… I just posted the Inner View interview you did… I think it was great. I also think you are a very smart, very creative young lady. You might get some visitors as people read the post. It was very impressive. Thanks, and I hope you come back to visit me again.

  3. Oh… and I am really sorry about some of those questions… like the Eifel Tower one… I just sent everybody the same questions except the last few… I wasn’t really expecting someone your age to do the interview… You handled yourself very well.

  4. Thank you for the follow! You are young and ambitious – I’m sure your future will be a bright and successful one – you are on your way!

  5. Thank you for following me and thank you again for writing in sentences rather than abbreviations. I wish I could convince my granddaughter to try whole words 🙂 Best of luck. You are well on your way!

  6. Hi there, thanks for stopping by my blog and liking my post on Redefining Beauty. Looks like you are on a quest to decide what beauty is for each individual person not necessarily according to the masses. Kudos to you for that brave approach

  7. Whenever I get a new follower on my blog, I go check them out. I meet the most interesting people that way! I’m delighted to have found your blog, Konni. Best of luck to you and I’ll be watching.

  8. Thanks so much for following my blog and for the lovely comment on my first post, it’s nice to have the support of a well established blogger around the same age as me! I look forward to reading your blog posts, your blog looks really cool and unique 🙂

  9. Thank you for following my job advice blog. What I admire in your words is the assertiveness because it falls short of being cocky and conceited. If you truly make your mark as a legend, it’s because of a strong belief in yourself. One of my own sayings would seem to fit you well; “I am on my way to achieving my goals. If you are not helping me, may I politely suggest you get out of the way.”

    1. Hi! Thank you! I’m glad you like it. I really do believe that I will make it someday-not because I’m naturally more gifted than everyone else but because, like you said, I think that if I keep trying and struggling with my studies and my blog, I’ll have a good chance of being noticed. Thanks so much for stopping by and sharing your thoughts! : )

  10. Hej Konni ! Thank you very much for stopping by and following my blog ! : ) Have a greeeeeeeeat day # Thomas
